The Swiss still largely support Ukraine in the context of the conflict initiated by over three years ago. In the Tamedia/20 Minute survey carried out on March 31 and April 1, 72% of respondents replied that they were behind Ukraine, 5% behind Russia and 22% or for one, or for the other. Support for kyiv is 91% among liberal greens, 89% in the PS, 88% in the Greens, 83% in the center, 74% in the PLR ​​and finally 43% at the UDC (where 12% support the Russians and 44% nor the other).

This result is to be weighted with another question on what the official position of Switzerland should be in the conflict. 50% believe that it must be held behind Ukraine, while 46% believe that it must be held away from the conflict. The first proposal made a majority on the left (73%) and in the center (58%), while the second is supported by the UDC at 76%and by the PLR ​​at 51%.

Will Donald Trump end the war in Ukraine again this year? Despite the American president’s peremptory statements on a rapid end of the war, respondents have no illusions: 73% of people doubt it. 35% say no and 38% rather no. 9% of respondents trust him and 14% are moderately optimistic. The UDC is distinguished: 40% of its sympathizers trust Donald Trump to end this war.

Should Ukraine give in Crimea and the land already won over by Russia? For 48% of people, Ukraine must keep its borders from the end of the Soviet Union, for 30%, it must give up Crimea and for 14% it should cede all territories which are currently under Russian control. This rate rises to 27% at the UDC.

Should we expect Russia to invade other European European countries in the next ten years? 24% think yes, 42% rather yes, 12% no and 18% rather no. This is a majority of 66% of people who fear this scenario. The most worried are the greens with 74% positive responses and the least worried are the UDC with 49%.

This question is to weep with another question: do you feel personally threatened by the war in Ukraine? 5% of respondents respond very strongly, 23% respond strongly, 49% rather little and 21% in no way. In other words, the population remains overall in the face of threats from Moscow.

Finally, the French president Emmanuel Macron proposed to place Europe under a nuclear umbrella. Are the Swiss favorable to such an evolution? The answer is yes at 34%, rather yes to 27%, rather no to 13%and not 18%. 8% are without opinion.
