This system must minimize damage and shortages in the basic supply, the oFederal Environmental Ffices (OFEV), meteorology and climatology (Météosuisse) et Topography (Swisstopo)behind this project.
The information, which will be sent to the authorities, to specialized services and to the population, must help the cantons and municipalities to take measures in time. For example, they will be able to decide the closure of fountains and adapt the supply of water.
Alerts will also be disseminated on existing channels, such as the Portal of the Natural Dangers of the Confederation, in the event of prolonged droughts.
