Switzerland must work to remind the COUREDH to order after being convicted of climate inaction. The National adopted a motion from the Council of States on Monday to this. However, Parliament has already refused to denounce the agreement of the same name.
This conviction a year ago by the European Court of Human Rights (COUREDH), following an appeal of the elders for the climate, had been strongly criticized both by the Parliament and by the Federal Council. Many had perceived the decision as an upsetting the skills of the court.
With his motion, the adviser to the States Andrea Caroni (PLR/AR) wishes to remind the Couredh to his ‘primary mission’ by fixing her safeguards. Nonmestor associations should no longer have access to the appeal and the member states must benefit from a room for maneuver
The left and part of the PVL were against, fearing a limitation of the independence of the COUREDH. In vain. The motion was approved by 122 votes to 71. The Federal Council was also favorable.
