At only 17, Jorthy Mokio is considered one of the greatest talents in Belgian football. After having made his professional debut at the Gantoise last season, the Red Devil (a selection) made a place in the first team at Ajax Amsterdam.
In an interview with Het Laatste Nieuws, Mokio has revealed that I had evolved a lot in recent months: “I have become much more professional. I am going to the room more often after training. I did not do it in Ghent before. I also arrive on time now (smile). It was a problem in Ghent. But it was often because of the school.”
Jan Vertonghen
Whoever considers himself more as a midfielder than a defender also said that he was a fan of a certain Jan Vertonghen: “I have never seen Toby Alderweireld playing Ajax, I’m far too young for that. I’m more interested in Jan Vertonghen, because he also played above on the field. Even if of course, they are both high -level players.”
Its axes of improvement
Mokio also admitted that he still had progress to make in certain areas. He says he is ready to make the necessary efforts to reach the top level: “Defensively, I have to improve myself. I still too often think about the attack and let my opponent go behind it. And when you have the ball, my position must be better.”
Despite his young age, Mokio already has 15 games with the Ajax first team. He also scored two goals, including one against the SG Union in the Europa League.
