Discover our tops and our flops at the end of the victory of Inter Milan against FC Barcelona (4-3 AP) this Tuesday on the lawn of San Siro during the semi-finals return of the Champions League, synonymous with qualification for the final.
Tops
Dumfries still in maneuver
He had already shone in the first leg with a double, Denzel Dumfries once again proved that his return to the competition arrived in time. Decisive passer for the opening of Lautaro Martinez’s score in the middle of the first period, the Dutch right piston never cut his efforts. This resulted in a second assist after additional time of the second period for Francesco Acerbi. His match was also marked by solidity in duels but also many lost balloons. Ere Interest, he gave way to Stefan de Vrij for the end of the extension.
Lamine Yamal tried everything
Lamine Yamal has taken responsibility. FC Barcelona’s offensive leader, the young nugget from the Masia was all the good shots of the Blaugrana club. By far the player who took the most of his chance in this return match, with nine strikes, including five framed, the native of Espligues de Llobregat did not miss a single thing for 120 minutes, success. There was a threat at all times for a rear guard of Inter Milan which has not always been intractable. He also failed when centering. But not enough to tarnish an XXL performance which did not resolve a qualification of Barça for the final.
Heroic summary
-If Inter Milan had the last word against FC Barcelona at the end of the extension, it is largely thanks to Yann Sommer. Especially in a second period which saw the Nerazzurri sink body and property, the Swiss goalkeeper held the bar with no less than ten crucial interventions, including some stops from nowhere. Less precise in the recovery, however, he made a simply incredible match to avoid his family that the difficulties in the game result in the display board.
Flops
Cubarsi in difficulty
His error could have plunged FC Barcelona. Author of the fault on Lautaro Martinez who brought the penalty allowing Inter Milan to take the break at the very end of the first period, Pau Cubarsi did not have the necessary influence in central defense in such an appointment. The domination of the Blaugrana in the second period somewhat erased its difficulties. He gave way to Gavi for the second half of the extension in an attempt to play everything for the whole from Hansi Flick, who turned out to be insufficient to overthrow the table.
Bisseck a little below
Standed by the defensive trident chosen by Simone Inzaghi in the absence of Benjamin Pavard, Yann Aurel Bisseck was a tone below her teammates. The German defender has too often been put out of position by Raphinha or Dani Olmo. Difficulties, especially in a second period which saw Inter Milan undergo vague after vague, who did not escape the coach of the Nerazzurri with a replacement for the last 20 minutes of regulation time by the experienced Matteo Darmian.
FERRAN TORRES INEFFICACE
Aligned at the tip of the Barça attack in the absence of Robert Lewandowski at the start, Ferran Torres did not make his best copy. Weaned with balloons, he was too tender in the face of a defense of Inter Milan not always convincing. He will have seen almost all of his initiatives turn to defeat himself. A match to forget that ended at the very end of the second period, when he gave his place to his Polish teammate, back from injury to this return semi-final.
