The CRDP-50 requests the temporary suspension of all the publications of Jeune Afrique in Senegal

The framework of democratic and patriotic reflection (CRDP-50) officially asked the Senegalese government to suspend all the diffusion media of the media Jeune Afrique.

This request follows the publication of an article by journalist Thaïs Brouck, which the organization deems “tendentious and unbalanced”, in connection with the recent report of the Court of Auditors on the situation of public finances.

According to the CRDP-50, the article in question calls into question the quality and integrity of the audit report produced by the Court, which covers the period from 2019 to March 31, 2024. This report reveals in particular a significant concealment of public debts under the regime of former President Macky Sall, estimated at around 100 % of GDP, well above 74 % officially declared. The document also mentions irregularities in budgetary management, such as incorrect revenue attaches and non -exhaustive tax expenditure.

The patriotic organization denounces the attempt by Jeune Afrique to discredit the report by emphasizing the critical remarks of a single chamber of chamber of the Court of Auditors, omitting the contributions of the other presidents and the Attorney General, who, according to the CRDP-50, have framed the whole process. The principle of contradictory, as defined in the organic law of the court, would have been fully respected.

In addition, the CRDP-50 rejects the thesis of the existence of two versions of the report, mentioned in the article, and affirms that the development of the document took place over five months, in accordance with the legal standards in force, under the leadership of a multidisciplinary team of experts.

The organization also criticizes Africa a favorable bias for former leaders, accusing the Journal of acting as a tool disguised for regimes, to the detriment of transparency and sovereignty of states.

In conclusion, the CRDP-50 believes that the role played by Jeune Afrique constitutes a “danger for the future of the continent” and invites the Senegalese authorities to take measures to prohibit its dissemination on the national territory.
