Finally, the Koesio Stadium will not see the day

A year ago, Pideric Brenier announced the construction of a stadium next to the Valence TGV station. The Koesio Stadium was initially to cost 44 million euros, including 33 provided personally by the CEO of Koésio. The first matches were expected from 2028.

« The reason has taken precedence over madness ”

A year later, this Tuesday, April 15, the businessman took the floor in front of an audience of local and sporting world actors. He said Koesio Stadium would not see the light of day. A decision presented as “responsible” and meeting three major “fairly complicated” challenges. The cost of the enclosure swelled in one year, until reaching 77 million euros. The economic model of the future speaker was also difficult to assume, and the environmental constraints that are too important to quickly materialize the stage. The project was already a year behind on the initial deadline. “Reason has taken precedence over madness,” admits Pieric Brenier.

But as “each crisis is an opportunity”, the project was revised, in connection with the VRDR and the city of Valence. The Pompidou stadium will be rehabilitated for around 20 million euros, including the abolition of the athletics track. A stadium dedicated to athletics will be created in Valence, and a center of excellence for public sports will be created. An overall investment of 32 million euros in which half Pideric Brenier will participate.
