The High Court of Justice of ECOWAS made this , May 9, 2025, a judgment in favor of Lat Diop, believing that its fundamental , in particular that of coming and coming, were violated by the State of .

This decision follows a complaint filed by the former director of the Lonase, who denounced unjustified restrictions on his freedom of movement. According to Me El Hadj Amadou Sall, lawyer for the complainant taken up by Seneweb, the community jurisdiction condemned the State of Senegal to pay four million CFA francs as damages. The Council specifies that this decision is based on clear recognition of the State responsibility in the infringement of fundamental rights guaranteed by the community texts of ECOWAS.

The Court thus judged that the measures taken against Lat Diop were arbitrary and contrary to the international commitments of Senegal in terms of the protection of individual freedoms. Beyond the moral compensation granted to the complainant, this decision is a strong signal to the Member States, upon to scrupulously respect the principles of the rule of law, without discrimination linked to the political or administrative position of citizens.
