The Senegalese deputies continued this Thursday, May 8, 2025 on Thursday, May 8, 2025, the examination of a request for justice aimed at the referral to a special courtyard of five ex-ministers accused of alleged embezzlement linked in particular to an anti-Cavid fund.
These procedures, rare in this country in West Africa, are open to the National Assembly, widely controlled by the party of President Bassirou Diomaye Faye, elected in March 2024 and which advocates a break with the management of its predecessors.
Mr. Faye promised to fight corruption in the country, and his regime launched various surveys against officials from the previous administration, that of ex-president Macky Sall (2012-2024).
The five ex-ministers concerned at the time of the facts are Amadou Mansour Faye (community development), also a brother-in-law of the ex-president, Aïssatou Sophie Gladima (Mines), Moustapha Diop (industrial development), Salimata Diop (women) and Ismaïla Madior Fall (Justice).
The first file examined by the deputies is that of Moustapha Diop on thatI “weigh serious presumptions of embezzlement of public funds”according to a parliamentary report.
He is accused of expenses of 2.5 billion CFA francs (3.8 million euros) in cash, “A violation” Accounting rules, according to a parliamentary report.
Minister Faye is suspected of “Complicity of diversion of public funds” after spending on “a global surplus of 2.7 billion FCFA” (4.1 million euros) in rice purchases.
His ex-colleague, Ms. Gladima, must justify more than 193 million CFA (294,200 euros) spent for the construction of a “Gravimetric center for impacted gold areas” by the covid.
Ismaïla Madior Fall is implicated for « corruption et concussion » After accusations of a property developer.
The latter claims that he asked him 250 million FCFA (381,120 euros) to award him a market.
The promoter claims to have paid “A deposit of 50 million” On this sum, before the annulment of the market concluded, which Mr. Fall denied.
For its part, Salimata Diop must justify expenses of more than 57 million FCFA (87,000 euros).
The five draft resolution of the indictment of the five ministers, read in plenary, all recommended their dismissal to the High Court of Justice.
This special jurisdiction, chaired by the president of the Supreme Court, is empowered to judge the presidents and members of the government for crimes and crimes committed in the exercise of their functions.
