Marcus Fenix is back, sharper than ever. Microsoft has just announced Gears of War: Reloaded, an ambitious remaster of the very first opus of the franchise released in 2006. For the first time in the history of the series, Gears arrives on PlayStation.
Scheduled for August 26, 2025, this remaster is not satisfied with a simple facelift. It sends nostalgia in 4K, with a campaign at 60 FPS, from multiplayer to 120 FPS, HDR, Dolby Vision, Dolby Atmos 7.1.4, Completely reworked textures, Dynamic Shadows and Reflections, Boosted post-approach, super definition with pushed antialiasing … and, icing on fragmentation pomegranate: zero solo-loading screen. A real Gears Next-Gen, designed to ignite modern machines without betraying its brutal DNA.
But the other important announcement is its cross-platform outing on Xbox Series X | S, PC… and PlayStation 5. For such a symbolic title of the Xbox ecosystem, seeing it land in competition is a strong sign. Microsoft cuts off its walls, but keeps heavy artillery. All with cross-play and a shared progression between the platforms.
And other nice surprise, Gears of War: Reloaded is only offered at € 39.99. Better yet, if you already have the digital version of Gears of War : Ultimate Edition (release in 2015), you will be automatically upgraded to Reloaded for free. A mark of respect for veterans of the front underlines Microsoft.
Finally for subscribers to the Game Pass Ultimate or the PC Game Pass, no supplement: Gears awaits you Day One.
