Diamniadio, May 5 (APS) – The performances recorded this year by students during the Mathematics Olympiads are both encouraging and revealing the remarkable potential of our country, argued the secretary general of the Ministry of National Education (MEN), Khady Diop Mbodji.
” The results of the national math Olympiads of this year confirm once again that Senegal has talents that it is up to us to better supervise to successfully meet the challenges of our development ”, she said, Monday, during the ceremony for the delivery of medals to the winners, to the ministerial sphere of Diamnaiadio.
This competition, organized each year under the aegis of the Ministry of National Education, constitutes “more than just school competition. It is the symbol of the excellence and commitment of our education system to promote science, particularly mathematics as a development lever ”, said Khady Diop Mbodji.
Amadou Woury Diallo, pupil in the first S1 first S1 class at the Diourbel scientific high school, was appointed ” King of mathematics ” by the jury, while Fadima Wane, a student in terminal class in the same establishment, came out ” Queen ” of these Olympiades.
The jury awarded this year, individually, three gold medals, five silver medals, nine bronze medals, in addition to the titles of king and queen of mathematics.

As a team awards, the jury awarded a gold medal, a silver medal and a bronze to the three best academy inspections that saw their award -winning students.
“Convinced that better results are within our reach, we call association promotion associations, university institutions and the community of mathematics to a unit of action to hoist Senegal among the best nations with Pan -African and international Olympiads ”, exhibited the Secretary General of the Ministry of National Education.
The sponsor of this year is Professor Mary Teuw Niane, mathematician, former Minister of Higher Education and current Director of Cabinet of the Head of State.
