(Ottawa) Defeated in his district of Carleton in the April 28 elections, the leader of the Conservative Party, Pierre Poilievre, could return to the House of Commons in September.

This is at least the calculation that conservative strategists do following the decision on Friday of the Albertan deputy Damien Kurek to resign from his headquarters in order to allow Pierre Hairyvre to be elected again to the municipalities thanks to a by -election in the constituency of Battle River – Crowfoot.
Prime Minister Mark Carney said last week that he intended to trigger a by -election quickly to give Mr. Hairy the opportunity to find his post as official opposition to the municipalities.
“I have already told Mr. Hairy that I will trigger a by -election, if it is the decision -making party, as soon as possible,” said Carney on Friday during his first press conference after his electoral victory.
In the conservative ranks, it is therefore completely possible to hold a by -election during the summer, paving the way for a return from Pierre Hairyvre to the prosecution of the House of Commons at the latest during the week of September 15, after the summer break.
“The absence of a hairy stone of the House of Commons will be temporary,” assured a conservative source which requested anonymity because it was not allowed to speak publicly about the strategy of the party for the by -election.
This source said that the party intended to do everything to make Pierre Hairy return to the municipalities as quickly as possible in order to participate in the parliamentary game which he masters profusely.
Another conservative source, which was also expressed under the guise of anonymity for the same reasons, said that the conservative chief must return to the municipalities illico in order to “give a voice” to the 42 % of the voters who supported the conservative party in the last ballot.
-First meeting of the Conservative Caucus
The Battle River – Crowfoot district is a conservative bastion. Mr. Kurek, who was elected for the first time in 2019, won last Monday election by collecting more than 81 % of the vote. The conservative chief’s decision to run for the votes in this constituency maximizes his chances of winning his bet to be able to sit again to the municipalities.
Against all expectations, Pierre Hairy has bitten the dust in Carleton, a district he had represented since 2004. The Liberal candidate Bruce Fanjoy caused the surprise by obtaining more than 50 % of the votes and ending the evening with an advance of more than 4000 votes on the conservative chief.
By losing his headquarters, Mr. Hairyvre cannot therefore carry out the charge of the Conservatives during the period of questions to the municipalities or give the reply to the measures proposed by the Carney government by the holding of the by -election.
Conservative deputies will participate in Ottawa today in their first Caucus meeting since their electoral defeat and are expected to elect an interim chief.
Two deputies are in the race to assume the functions of official opposition head in a temporary manner: the deputy Andrew Scheer, who has already been party leader from 2017 to 2019, and the deputy of the Toronto Melissa Lantsman region.
Prime Minister Mark Carney said last week that he will reveal the composition of his cabinet during the week of May 12 and that parliamentary work will resume on Monday, May 26. King Charles III will read the discourse of the throne in the Senate on May 27, thus officially launching the parliamentary session which promises to be charged.
Everything indicates that the government of Mark Carney will file a budget during the first week of June.
Since his defeat in last Monday elections, Pierre Poilievre has multiplied the calls to take the pulse of his troops. He has not yet made public appearance or commented on the results of the election which postponed the liberals to power for a fourth term in a row.
