An electric fire had declared itself on the lower wall of the metro train. The metros were interrupted in the afternoon and the evening.
The traffic in lines 2 and 6 of the Brussels metro resumed this Tuesday morning between the stations Porte de Hal and Osseghem. On Monday afternoon, these two lines were interrupted following a release of smoke detected in a metro train which was circulating between the metro stations Clemenceau and Delacroix.
The incident occurred shortly after 1:00 p.m., causing immediate interruption in metro traffic. The passengers of the metro rail concerned were evacuated via the Delacroix station. Emergency services quickly arrived at the scene in order to provide the care necessary for three technicians from the Stib which were on the spot. Five passengers who inhaled smoke were taken to the hospital.
According to Brussels firefighters, it was a small electric fire on the lower wall of the metro train, but the exact cause is not yet known.
