According to the same sources, the recruiters of the Dutch club followed the young Moroccan player closely and were impressed by his performances during his participation with the Moroccan selection in the African Cup of Nations U17, won by Morocco.
The same sources indicate that the player and his family have declined an offer from Bayer Leverkusen in Germany, preferring Ajax, a club recognized for the importance it attaches to the development of young talents and which has several Moroccan players in its different categories.
Note that Moncef Zekri, who plays in Jong Kv Mechelen, participated in all the matches of the national selection U17 during the CAN, actively contributing to the continental title.
