A tragic road accident occurred this Saturday, May 3, 2025 near Saré Coly Sallé, in the department of Vélingara, beating the educational community. The drama cost the lives of two people, including a student from CEM Saré Coly Sallé, and made several injured among the students.
As soon as the accident was announced, the minister of National Education, Moustapha Mamba Guirassy, went there to demonstrate the solidarity of the Senegalese state and people to affected families. Around 1 p.m., he visited the Tambacounda regional hospital, where several injured were transferred, in order to learn about their state of health and provide them with moral support.
The minister then headed for Saré Coly Sallé, to meet the families of the victims. On the spot, he presented the condolences of the President of the Republic, the Government and the Nation. He also delivered financial support intended for the medical care of the injured and to support bereaved families.
This rapid reaction of the authorities was warmly praised by the populations of Fouladou, who expressed their gratitude for the presence of the minister in these painful circumstances. “His coming is a great comfort for us,” said a resident, visibly moved. Beyond compassion, Minister Guirassy took the opportunity to launch an appeal to the responsibility of all road users.
