Valais cantonal police have blocked around forty caravans of travelers from the canton of Neuchâtel on the A9 motorway near Saint-Maurice. They wanted to go to Gampel private land, but the municipal authorities opposed their arrival.
From Villeneuve, traveling people have refused the injunctions of the Vaudois and Valais cantonal fonts to borrow the different outings. Faced with this behavior, the decision was made to block the convoy in St-Maurice, the Valais police said in a press release. 42 caravans and around 150 people are blocked on the highway.
The police have activated its Cobra plan which allows you to mobilize all the forces available, around 200 agents. Road traffic is deflected on cantonal roads.

The caravans, with French plates, came from the canton of Neuchâtel where they were parked. Travelers have left this place suddenly. They wanted to go to the Gampel campsite, with which they say they have concluded a rental contract. The municipal council had refused this rental. The owner had in turn terminated the contract, according to the police.
