The series “Bété Bété” plunges into the heart of relationships and cultural traditions through the history of two families deeply linked in the past. In this episode of season 2, entitled “Episode 42”, friendships and rivalries mix around a complex heritage.

Alkali Sall and Makhoudia Tall, longtime friends, respectively embody the Guéér and Teug castes. Their friendship persists despite the stifling weight of prejudices. Social barriers created by castes make any union difficult, like the one that formerly existed between Alkali and Daba Thiam. From this romance was born Diouma, a girl that Alkali never officially recognized.

Ndiaga Thiam, father of Daba, is a conservative man whose anger towards Alkali never seems to have to calm down. This resentment is fueled by its attachment to its family . Marème Sall, the wife of Alkali, refuses to associate himself with the Gnégnos, thus adding a layer of complexity to interpersonal relationships. Meanwhile, Makhoudia Tall juggles with a polygamous reality, living with two wives belonging to the Castes Teug and Guéweul.

These elements of the intrigue are taken up in the original version of the series as reported by our colleagues from Kawtef, which describe how the inheritance and the notions of caste continue to affect the daily life of the characters.
