The activities of the construction sector have been energized by the mild weather of the month under review: the building branch and civil engineering is that which records the main decrease in the number of unemployed. The spring seasonal drop was nevertheless slightly waiting this year. The global situation, marked by trade tensions and geopolitical risks, generates a general climate of uncertainty which puts under pressure the market of Friborg employment.
Unemployed and job seekers
The unemployment rate makes it possible to make comparisons between the cantons since it is calculated uniformly in Switzerland. The rate of job seekers brings together the unemployed and those who are occupied to an active extent, such as a temporary employment program, an intermediate gain, a development course or a professional retraining. Since June 2022, unemployment figures have been calculated on the basis of a sample established by the Federal Statistical Office over three years (2018, 2019 and 2020).
