The canton of Friborg has an unemployment rate of 2.7% in April 2025, down 0.1 points compared to the previous month. The workforce of the unemployed amounts to 4,677 people, 159 less than in March 2025 and 739 more than in April 2024. In detail, unemployment decreased by 0.2 points in the Glâne district (2.7%) and 0.1 point in the Sarine districts (3.4%), Gruyère (2.9%), Veveysese (2.7%) Lake (1.9%) and Singine (1.3%). Only the Broye district records an increase of 0.1 point (3.0%). On a Swiss scale, the unemployment rate is down 0.1 point, to 2.8%.
The workforce of Friborg job seekers is 9,148 in April 2025-which corresponds to a rate of 5.3% (-0.1 point). This represents 132 people less than in March 2025 and 1,278 more than in April 2024. On the Swiss scale, the rate of job seekers is down 0.1 point, to 4.5%.
The activities of the construction sector have been energized by the mild weather of the month under review: the building branch and civil engineering is that which records the main decrease in the number of unemployed. The spring seasonal drop was nevertheless slightly waiting this year. The global situation, marked by trade tensions and geopolitical risks, generates a general climate of uncertainty which puts under pressure the market of Friborg employment.
