Israel has approved a new Gaza aid plan entrusted to private security companies.
The Israeli media reported on Monday that the Israeli firm approved a humanitarian aid plan on Gaza on Sunday evening, via private security companies, consisting in putting the packages directly to individuals.
According to the information site The Times of Israel, this plan aims to rule out the Israeli army from the distribution process while ensuring security coverage external to private companies and international organizations responsible for putting the packages.
Although no official implementation date has been announced, this plan was validated by all members of the government, with the exception of the far-right national minister of national security, Itamar Ben-Gvir.
According to the Washington Post, the project would call on American security companies, and could be set up by the end of the month, or even on the occasion of President Donald Trump’s visit to the region, scheduled for mid-May.
However, the plan was rejected by the UN and dozens of international humanitarian organizations, which denounce an initiative contrary to humanitarian principles, which is difficult to achieve in the field and dangerous for Palestinian civilians and humanitarian staff.
In a statement published on Sunday evening, the United Nations humanitarian team in Gaza said that it “can only argue plans respecting the humanitarian principles of humanity, neutrality, independence and impartiality”.
Since the start of the Israeli offensive in October 2023, more than 52,500 Palestinians have been killed in the Gaza Strip, mostly women and children.
Last November, the International Criminal Court (ICC) issued arrest warrants against Israeli Prime Minister Benyamin Netanyahu and his ex-minister of the Yoav Gallant defense for war crimes and crimes against humanity committed in Gaza.
In addition, Israel is also the subject of procedure for genocide before the International Court of Justice (CIJ), in connection with his war against the Palestinian enclave.
