Practically all NGOs have had to suspend or very strongly reduce their aid in the Palestinian territory since the ceasefire breaking on March 18, underline these organizations which cite a survey carried out with 43 NGOs providing assistance to Gaza.
“Each Gaza resident depends on humanitarian aid to survive. This line of life has been completely cut since the Israeli authorities imposed a blockade on the entrance to the aid on March 2,” they write.
“We have ready supplies. We have trained medical staff. We have the necessary expertise. What we are missing is access – or the guarantee by the Israeli authorities that our teams can do their work safely,” they add.
Some 400 humanitarian workers and 1,300 Health personnel have been killed since October 2023 in Gaza, recall these NGOs, citing a UN assessment.
“We call on all parties to guarantee the safety of our staff and to allow safe and unhindered access to assistance to Gaza by all the entry points, and we ask world leaders to oppose any new restriction,” they ask.
According to the Hamas Ministry of Health, at least 1,691 Palestinians have been killed since March 18, bringing to 51,065 the number of deaths in Gaza since the start of the Israeli reprisals offensive 18 months ago.
The attack on October 7 led to the death of 1,218 people on the Israeli side, mostly civilians, according to an AFP count based on official data.
