Pepper price today, May 9, 2025, on the domestic market
The prices of pepper are now high in certain key cultivation areas compared to yesterday. Thus, the price of national pepper varies from 153,000 VND/kg to 155,000 VND/kg.
In the central highlands region, the prices of pepper today in Dak Lak have remained unchanged from yesterday, currently at 155,000 VND/kg.
The price of pepper today in Gia Lai is unchanged compared to yesterday, currently at 153,000 VND/kg.
The price of pepper today in Dak Nong is unchanged compared to yesterday, currently at 155,000 VND/kg.
In the southeast region, the price of pepper today in Ba Ria – Vung Tau is currently 153,000 VND/kg, unchanged from yesterday. The Dong Nai remained unchanged compared to yesterday at 153,000 VND/kg.
In addition, the price of pepper today in Binh Phuoc is unchanged compared to yesterday, currently at 153,000 VND/kg.
Pepper price today 9/5 on the world market
On the global market, based on the quotes from exporting companies and export prices in various countries, the International Pepper Community (IPC) has updated the pepper prices of all types negotiated on the international market on May 8 (local time) as follows:
The price of Indonesian black pepper Lampung increased slightly compared to yesterday to 7,338 USD/ton (up 0.22%). In addition, the price of Muntok white pepper also increased slightly compared to yesterday, reaching 9,939 USD/ton (up 0.22%).
The price of Brazilian black pepper Asta 570 remained unchanged compared to yesterday at $ 6,800/MT.
-The price of Malaysian black pepper Asta is unchanged compared to yesterday at 9,200 USD/ton. In addition, the price of white pepper Asta in the country remained stable compared to yesterday at 11,900 USD/ton.
The prices of Vietnamese pepper of all kinds remained unchanged from yesterday. In which, the price of Vietnamese black pepper 500 gr/reaches it 6,700 USD/ton; The content of 550 gr/reaches it 6,800 USD/ton.
Likewise, the price of white pepper in Vietnam remained unchanged from yesterday, at $ 9,700/ton.
During the first 4 months of 2025, Vietnam exported a total of 74,250 tonnes of pepper, including 63,124 tonnes of black pepper and 11,126 tonnes of white pepper.
Total turnover has reached USD 510.6 million, including USD 423.2 million for black pepper and USD 87.4 million for white pepper. Compared to the same period in 2024, export production decreased by 10.6 %, but the value of exports increased significantly by 45 %.
The main reason comes from the sharp increase in average export prices. Black pepper has reached an average price of 6,749 USD/ton, up 96 % compared to the previous year. White pepper also increased by 73.8%, reaching 8,611 USD/ton. High prices help Vietnam generate significant income despite a reduced volume.
The United States remained the largest market, significant 16,682 tonnes, or 22.5 % of the total volume, but down 26.7 % over one year. Strength growth markets include India (up 6.4 %), the United Arab Emirates (up 42.2 %) and especially China with almost twice (94.4 %) growth. At the same time, exports to certain countries such as the Netherlands, Russia, the United Kingdom, Egypt, Turkey and France have decreased.
For white pepper, China is the largest market (1,557 tonnes), followed by Germany (1,481 tonnes) and the United States (1,200 tonnes). These are countries where demand for more transformed pepper products is high.
Regarding businesses, Olam Vietnam is leading with 7,692 tonnes of exported pepper, 10.4% market share, although slightly down compared to the same period. Phuc Sinh experienced an impressive growth of 32.2% with 6,712 tonnes. Nedspice ranks third with 6,635 tonnes, slightly down.
Some large companies such as Tran Chau and Haprosimex JSC have recorded heavy drops of 27.3% and 25.2% respectively.
In the segment of white pepper, the main exporters, including Olam Vietnam (1,628 tonnes), Nedspice Vietnam (1,350 tonnes) and Phuc Sinh, continued to assert their role as leader on the market.
