As part of their investigation, the police of the Laval Police Service (SPL) obtained elements to identify the suspect and arrest her on Monday around 3 p.m. on Monday.
Jonathan Charrette appeared on Tuesday morning at the Laval courthouse for accusations of breaking and criminal fire. He remains detained while waiting for the continuation of legal proceedings.
On Sunday evening, the police and firefighters intervened, after a call housed at 911 around 9:30 p.m. signaling an in progress. According to a witness, flames and smoke came out of the building in the annex of the establishment, located at 3730 boulevard Lévesque Ouest in Chomedey.
“Upon arrival, the fire is propagated to the entire crawl space between the soil and the floor of the first floor,” said the Laval fire safety service in its preliminary report. “The firefighters worked in difficult conditions in order to stop the propagation in the crawl space.”
According to the Laval School Service Center (CSS), only the modulars adjacent to the school appendix had been damaged by the flames.
-About twenty firefighters had managed to master the fire around 11:45 p.m. There have been limited damage to the main building, the Laval fire safety service reported.
The event survey was transferred to the SPL. Fire technician investigators had moved to the scene to analyze the scene to determine the causes and circumstances of the fire.
Recall that the CSS of Laval announced the resumption of courses, which had been temporarily suspended, for Tuesday. The courses, which were offered in the modulars affected by the fire, will be relocated to other premises and the students who had lockers in the modular will be entitled to “support so that they have the necessary equipment to take their courses”.
In a communication sent to the parents, the CSS had added that “the modular premises 152-153-156 and 252-253-255-256 are however inaccessible and closed for an indefinite period”, while an evaluation of the damage is still in progress. The courses offered in these premises will also be relocated.
