The NHL qualifiers continued on Monday evening. The Maple Leafs played the first match of their second -round duel against Florida’s panthers. In an evening high in twist, Toronto saved with the victory and leads the 1-0 series.
Toronto quickly set the tone thanks to two goals from William Nylander in the first period. Seth Jones reduced Leafs advance, but Morgan Rielly and Chris Tanev added it for Toronto.
While the atmosphere was at its height and Toronto led 4-1, the worst occurred for the leafs. Goalkeeper Anthony Stolarz had to leave the game after receiving a head of the head from Sam Bennett. Stolarz vomited on the bench before returning to the locker room and was transported to the hospital for evaluation. Joseph Woll brought back in reinforcement.
-The panthers gave a hard time to the leafs in third. Eetu Luostarinen, Uvis Balinskis and Sam Bennett all foiled Woll. Matthew Knies scored the winning goal for Toronto who wins 5-4 and takes the lead 1-0 in the series.
The revenge of the Maple Leafs
The Panthers had easily eliminated the Maple Leafs in five games during their spring appointment two years ago. Toronto had shown a 0-3 file at home during this series. In the regular season this year, the Panthers won three of the four duels between the two teams.
William Nylander Attack for the Leafs
Stronger William Nylander, who scored two goals in the last game in Ottawa, quickly scored his team. His shot was right for Sergei Bobrovsky from the first seconds of the meeting. Toronto takes the lead with only 33 seconds of played.
