A farm was the prey of the flames Monday evening in Saint-Donat-de-Rimouski, in Bas-Saint-Laurent.
The municipality’s fire service was called upon to intervene at the Dupotier farm, located in the 5th row west, around 8 p.m. Monday.
On site, the firefighters noted a generalized conflagration.

About fifty firefighters, including several of the neighboring municipalities, were dispatched to the scene to fight the flames.

It took more than 12 hours to contain the blaze.
The agricultural building is a total loss, confirmed the director of the fire safety service in the city of Mont-Joli, Robert Roger.

Several animals that were on the farm when the fire started were saved, while some unfortunately perished in the flames.

“The owners began to evacuate the animals before our arrival,” said Robert Roger. But some died, we saved several. ”
No one was injured in this event, it was confirmed.
It is still too early to determine the cause of the fire, but the criminal thesis would not be privileged.
An investigation was triggered to determine the causes and circumstances behind this major fire.
Monday evening, several residences were plunged into the dark due to an electricity failure caused by the blaze.
