On Monday, shortly after 1:00 p.m., traffic on metro lines 2 and 6 was interrupted due to smoke clearance on a row circulating between the Clemenceau and Delacroix stations. The passengers of the rare concerned were evacuated via the Delacroix station. The emergency services intervened in number to control the start of fire and provided on site the care necessary for three STIB technicians. Five passengers, having inhaled smoke, were transported to the hospital.
According to the firefighters, it was a small fire of electrical origin located under the train, but the exact cause remains indeterminate.
Following this incident, traffic on lines 2 and 6 remained interrupted all evening between the stations Porte de Hal and Osseghem, in order to allow repairs. Tuesday morning at 4:00 am, the metros resumed their service on the two lines, but a new problem concerning a defective referral occurred during the morning. Traffic is therefore interrupted again on lines 2 and 6, this time between the Simonis and Delacroix stations.
