“Pink Floyd at Pompeii”, the 1972 revolutionary film directed by Adrian Maben, returned to the cinema In the restored version, with improved sound. Shot in the striking ruins of the former Roman amphitheater of Pompeii, this film shows an intimate concert of Pink Floyd, without public, and offers spectacular visuals, new scenes in slides and unforgettable pieces.
The CD version produced for this reissue will be offered to you this Sunday between 9 am and noon in the Soundtrack program by our host Laurent Debeuf.
This official live album who accompanies the film understands of course the performance heard in the film, as well as Rare studio work scenes in Abbey Road during the gestation of The Dark Side of the Moon.
-Steven Wilson notably remixed the soundtrack of the film in stereo for this double album which also includes two bonus titles: “Careful with that axis, Eugene – Alternate Take” and “A Saucerful of Secrets – Undited”.
A film completely restored in 4K
Last month, The fans were able to discover an extract from the performance remastered in 4K of the song “One of These Days”, The opening piece of the album Meddle (1971), carried by a hypnotic bass line and an instrumental crescendo of a rare intensity.
This restored version offers a striking overview of the legendary concert captured in the ruins of the Roman amphitheater of Pompeii in October 1971.
