The British David Attent Borough, famous for his documentaries on animals and the environment, presents Tuesday in London in preview his new film “Ocean”, which will be released Thursday, on the day of his 99th birthday, and in which he denounces the methods of industrial fishing.

For decades, the British naturalist traveled the planet dressed in beige pants and a blue shirt, bringing often unpublished images of jungles, deserts and oceans.
His series “Life on Earth” (La Vie sur Earth), released in 1979, was seen by 500 million people worldwide.
If he no longer travels to the four corners of the world, he continues to present documentaries with his hushed tone and his voice recognizable among all.

In his new film, he worries about the state of the oceans and denounces the methods of industrial fishing.
-“After spending my life filming nature, I now understand that the most important place on earth is not the earth,” he said in the trailer for his new film. “We have to open our eyes to what’s going on under the waves.”
He draws up a very black painting. “We have emptied the life of our oceans,” he continues. But “if we save the sea, we save our world”.

The film will be released in theaters Thursday in the United Kingdom, then early June on National Geographic and Disney+.
On the occasion of the 99th anniversary of David Attent Borough, the British daily The Guardian asked 99 personalities to explain in a few words what he represents.
“I know, for watching David’s shows, that our ecosystems are all interconnected and that if only one country does what it takes, but not the others, we will not solve the problem,” testified former American president Barack Obama.
For singer Billie Eilish, he is “a living treasure”. “The love and the deep knowledge of David attent Borough for our planet and the animal kingdom bring out the childish curiosity which sleeps in each of us,” she added.
