Three years in prison required against the driver

The accident occurred on September 19, 2024, shortly before 10 p.m. in the town of Fenouiller, on the track connecting Saint-Gilles-Croix-de-Vie where victim Nicolas Sprung works, and his home in Bois-de-Céné.

A “phone manipulation” to “change music”

The young motorist had spent the day in Nantes to help move a friend. At the end of the day, he accompanied a friend in Brittany near Vannes.

Positive to drugs

For its part, the defendant undergoes the usual tests: no alcohol, but traces of drugs, cannabis, cocaine, amphetamines. He will say, “at the time I smoked two to three joints a day”.

On cocaine, “I had not taken it, it is surely a transfer”. Last taken, on Tuesday, accident on Thursday, “you were still under this influence two days later,” notes the public prosecutor Eric Bret.

A local personality

On the bench of the civil parties, the mother, the brother, the wife and her eight -year -old child, (Editor’s note for whom the presence of Tiwi, the legal assistance dog was useful and necessary), the relatives of Nicolas Sprung.

The 44 -year -old man was well known locally. In addition to his functions as trainer educator in the building at the MFR of Saint-Gilles, the place of which he returned at the time of the accident, he was elected from his town in Bois-de-Céné. The mayor of the town and several elected officials were present at the hearing.

Deliberated on May 22

Faced with “this inconsistent, anti -social, inadmissible behavior,” the requisitions are heavy: four years in prison, including one suspended probationary for two years, with obligation of care and work, and a cancellation of the driving license with prohibition to iron it before five years.

An advice from the defendant, Me Louis Yarroudh-Fleurion confirms the statements of his client, “Since that sad day, there is no more consumption whatever it is, alcohol, drugs. If the suffering of this family is intense, its own too, but a heavy penalty will not alleviate the pain. ” The deliberation will be returned on May 22.
