After three consecutive victories in Jerez, Pecco Bagnaia was unable to dictate his law this year in Andalusia. Unable to compete with Álex Márquez to win the Grand Prix, he was also preceded by the Yamaha of Fabio Quartararo, who had previously beaten everyone at a time when pole position was played. In the Sprint format, already, Bagnaia had to be satisfied with third place, far from the hopes that he had long feeded for this first European meeting.
“Pecco did not meet expectations”, Gigi Dall’IGNA “First of all because he has always accustomed us to better performances on Sundays than on Saturdays, but also because of the courage and the determination he showed during this spectacular first round. In the racing pace, he did not have the liveliness that we all expect, nor the peaks that are necessary so that he can fight again at the top.”
“From the point of view of the championship, he obtained a precious third place, which came to grow his capital, but the fact remains that we must improve ourselves”, adds the director general of Ducati Corsica.

If the idea of a collective effort to be fulfilled transpareates in the words of the team’s ownership, it is clearly highlighted by Claudio Domenicali, managing director of the manufacturer. “Pecco had won the last three races in Jerez and this third place is too little for him”, commented this one with Gpone. “Unfortunately, the motorcycle does not transmit the sensations he would like to exceed as he had used us there last year. So we work to resolve the situation.”
Bagnaia himself clearly called for a help from his team. On the one hand, in an attempt to overcome his difficulties in the Sprint format, which pursue him from one season to another, but also to regain an efficiency whose GP25 seems to deprive him, especially in braking. After circuits which were unsuccessfully favorable to him at the opening of the championship, the two weekends spent in Losail and Jerez are seen as a serious alert for a pilot who, last year, was able to win 11 Grands Prix.
An “excess of confidence” for Márquez
The underperformance of Pecco Bagnaia, now recurrent from one circuit to another, is ostensibly ticking in the red garage. The bosses of the Ducati program, on the other hand, are more indulgent with regard to Marc Márquez, despite his expensive fall in Jerez. This is perceived as the fruit of an excess of confidence, but especially with the hope that it is a punctual error on the part of the one who dominates this beginning of the championship in terms of pure performance.
“Marc is extraordinary, he pilots very well. He sometimes makes a few small errors by excess of confidence. He nevertheless shows that he has a motorcycle in hand. Let’s say that a small error from time to time, it can pass. Hopefully it is done for a moment!”, to Ainsi Glissé Claudio Domenicali.
“Unfortunately, this is an error that occurred too early, long before the Grand Prix took shape and that the values of the track have clarified. We must start to think about our next meeting, without doubting but keeping all this in mind”, to how long is a better comments Dall.
-And the boss of Ducati Corse to add: “We can clearly emphasize, and we always appreciate it, the courage of the pilot in the fact of having wanted to return to the track, to have brought a heavily damaged motorcycle to score points, and, taking into account the circumstances, to have won an amazing 12th place.”
