The Minister of Tourism and Sports, Sorawong Thienthong, highlighted the strategic importance of this event for Thailand. According to him, the tournament should not only offer a global showcase to the nation, but also generate economic benefits estimated at more than 8.5 billion Baht, thanks to the tourist influx and international media coverage.
The tournament will start with the group phase, which will take place from August 22 to 27 in the four host cities. The 16 best teams will qualify for the direct elimination phase, which will be held in Bangkok. The round of 16 will take place from August 29 to September 1, followed by the quarter-final on September 3 and 4, semi-finals on September 6 and finally from the grand final on September 7.
-For the French team, currently ranked 19th worldwide, this championship represents a major challenge. The Blue will aim to qualify for the round of 16 by finishing among the first two in their group.
The hen C, in which France will evolve, promises to be particularly raised. Brazil, ranked 2nd in the world and bronze medalist at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, will be one of the main favorites. The France group will also include Puerto Rico (16th in the world ranking), an experienced team from major competitions, which will remain a formidable opponent. Finally, Greece, classified 30th, should constitute the most affordable opponent for the French. The games of this pool will take place in Chiang Mai.
This championship marks a historic return for the French team, absent from the World Cup for over 50 years. For Thailand, where women’s volleyball is an extremely popular sport, this event represents a new exciting chapter in its sporting history.
