Skoda’s designers revisit a legend with audacity and modernity. The Slavia B, the first motorcycle created in 1899 by Laurin & Klement.
This motorcycle, a true treasure of Skoda’s heritage, is reborn today in a futuristic form thanks to the talent of French designer Romain Bucaille. With this contemporary interpretation, Skoda pays homage to its roots in Modern Solid design. Romain Bucaille, specialist in exterior design of cars, took pleasure in revisiting an icon of another age: “I wanted to come back to the brand’s origins while exploring a new form. Working on a motorcycle was a real bowl of air ”he says.

Slavia B revisited retains the essence of the original model while adapting to the modern era. Inspired by the distinctive framework of the first motorcycles Laurin & Klement, Romain integrated a daring line that separates the front and rear parts. While the original model housed a 1.75 -horsepower monocylinder engine, the futuristic concept is betting on an electric vision, leaving an empty space in the center of the frame, where the logo seems to float.

The design also pays tribute to the sports inheritance of the motorcycle, which had been tested in events such as the Paris-Berlin race of 1901. A “floating” saddle and a leather tool bag subtly recall this spirit of adventure.
-From paper to 3D model
Romain Bucaille adopted a classic approach, starting with hand sketches before moving on to digital tools. After several iterations, he developed a 3D model perfectly reflecting the balance between history and innovation. “Motorcycles highlight their mechanics. This dialogue between tradition and modernity is fascinating ”he explains.

With this reinterpretation of Slavia B, Skoda proves that it is possible to marry heritage and innovation. This futuristic racer coffee reinvents a history piece while instilling new energy to the Czech brand. A creation at the same time modern, functional and emotional, which will not fail to make lovers of design and engineering dreams. Romain Bucaille signs a captivating work here, where each line tells a story.
