Since that date, the pace of bilateral meetings at the ministerial level has accentuated, and projects between the two countries are provided, among other things, in the fields of energy, the desalination of water and infrastructure, such as an electrical connection agreement in perspective and a direct road axis which should be inaugurated soon.
More recently, the Mauritanian Minister for Foreign Affairs, Mohamed Salem Ould Merzoug, went to Morocco on March 26, to meet his Moroccan counterpart, Nasser Bourita, and confirmed the level of relations between Nouakchott and Rabat.
At the end of April, the second edition of Morocco Week “Together to build a solidarity partnership” organized in the Mauritanian capital was able to give an overview of Moroccan companies and existing institutions, allowing to share their services and their products and open the way to new bilateral projects.
Likewise, Mauritania has demonstrated in recent months of its detachment from the Polisario militia, and seems to no longer endorse this separatist group, in a desire to free itself from the pressure of Algeria. Nouakchott has shown subtle diplomacy and firm both on this subject, despite attempts at Algerian intimidation.
