Labor market at T1-2025: main points of the HCP information note

Here are the main points of the Information note of the High Commission for Planning (HCP) relating to the situation of the labor in the quarter of 2025:

Job :

– Creation of 282,000 jobs at the national level

– Distribution by medium:

• Creation of 285,000 urban jobs

• Loss of 3,000 rural stations

– By type of job:

• Creation of 319,000 paid jobs

• Loss of 37,000 unpaid jobs

– Sectoral distribution:

• Creation of 216,000 positions in services

• Creation of 83,000 positions in the industry • Creation of 52,000 jobs in building and public works (construction)

• Loss of 72,000 positions in agriculture, forestry and fishing – the activity rate increased by 0.3 points to 42.9%

– The employment rate increased from 0.5 points to 37.2%

Unemployment :

– The number of unemployed fell from 1% to 1,630,000 people

-The unemployment rate fell from 0.4 points to 13.3%: • 16.6% in urban areas (-1 point)

• 7.3% in rural areas (+0.5 point)

• 11.5% in men (-0.5 point)

• 19.9% ​​among (-0.2%)

• 37.7% among people aged 15 to 24 (+1.8 point) • 21.2% among people aged 25 to 34 (-0.8 point)

• 7.5% in people aged 35 to 44 (-0.5 point) • 3.9% for those aged 45 and over (-0.6 point)

• 19.4% among graduates (-0.9 point)

Regional labor market situation:

– Five regions have housed 72% of all assets aged 15 and over

– Four regions display activity rates above the national average (42.9%)

-Five regions concentrate 70%of the unemployed, namely Casablanca-Settat (23%), Fès-Meknès (13.2%), Oriental (12.2%), Rabat-Salé-Kenitra (11.9%) and Tanger-Tetouan-Al Hoceima (9.8%)

– The highest unemployment rates are observed in the Oriental region (25.2%) and the southern regions (23.8%)

-Two regions exceed the national average (13.3%) namely Casablanca-Settat (13.7%) and Fès-Meknès (14.7%)

-The regions of Drâa-Tafilalet (8%), -Safi (8.9%) and Tangier-Tétouan-Al Hoceima (11.2%) record the lowest rates.

Main characteristics of the occupied active population:

– almost 37.6% of busy assets reside in rural areas and 20.2% are sex

– Young people aged 15 to 34 are 33.7% of the total employment volume (7.6% for 15 to 24 and 26.2% for 25 to 34 year olds)

– Almost 47% of the busy assets have no diploma, 33.2% have an average diploma and 19.8% a higher diploma

– The “Services” sector employs 49.2% of busy assets, followed by “agriculture, forest and fishing” with 25%

– nearly 6 worked workers out of 10 in rural areas (59.9%) in the “agriculture, forest and fishing” sector, and nearly two thirds of the city -occupied assets (65.9%) in the “Services” sector

– Almost 9.3%of the worked workers exert an unpaid job, with a higher proportion in rural people (21.5%) than in city dwellers (1.9%), and in women (24.4%) than in men (5.4%)

– Almost 11.8% of worked assets exercise an occasional or seasonal type employment (17.8% in rural areas and 8.3% in urban areas)

– almost three out of ten workers (31.1%) benefit from employment -related coverage (42.4% in urban areas and 12.3% in rural areas)

– The busy assets exercising in “industry” record the highest medical coverage rate (48.9%), followed by those relating to the “services” (42.6%), construction (13.6%) and “agriculture, forest and fishing” sector (7.6%)

– at national level, 46.5% of employees benefit from medical coverage provided by the employer (54.2% in urban areas and 26.2% in rural areas; 63.1% among women and 42.4% among men)
