France counts a lot on Morocco to intensify joint efforts in the security field, both on the terrorism front and on other fronts, underlined Mr. Retailleau during a press briefing at the end of a working meeting with the Minister of the Interior, Abdelouafi Laftit, held in the presence of senior officials of the two countries.
He added that his visit to the kingdom “is part of a very particular context and at a time when the revival of relations between the two countries has never been so intense”. “It is a bilateral relationship that unfolds in all areas, including the security field,” he said.
As such, he praised the fruitful collaboration with the Moroccan authorities who have led to the arrest, recently, important drug traffickers sought by France, noting that it is an “unprecedented dynamic” of the relationship and friendship binding the two countries.
On the occasion of this working meeting, the two ministers reviewed the questions of common interest as well as the prospects for strengthening bilateral cooperation, in perfect harmony with the declaration of strengthened exceptional partnership, signed by His Majesty King Mohammed VI, that God assists, and Sem Emmanuel Macron, President of the French Republic, during the state visit of October 2024.
On the security level, the two ministers praised the fruitful cooperation between the competent services of the two countries. This collaboration, based on close coordination and intelligence exchanges, made it possible to effectively contain the terrorist threat and to record several notable successes, in particular by the dismantling of terrorist and criminal networks.
