
Famous for its role as Amonbofis, in the excellent film Asterix and Obelix: Cleopatra missionactor Gérard Darmon said that bailiffs showed up at his Parisian apartment in the middle of the film. He had to continue working despite everything, with “the energy of despair”.
Released in 2002, Alain Chabat’s film is considered by many as the best in the series Asterix and Obelix. In addition to Christian Clavier, Gérard Depardieu, Jamel Debbouze, Monica Bellucci and Chabat, Gérard Darmon flies the show in each of his appearances on the screen.
But now we learn that the Franco-Moroccan actor could have not ended up in the film, because he lived serious personal troubles.
The energy of despair
At the microphone ofEurope1Darmon said that he had experienced a great moment of panic when he received a call while he was in the middle of a desert for the shooting of the feature film. “I was dressed in Amonbofis, in unbearable heat,” he recalls.
He was taught when a seizure was underway and bailiffs had just come to his Parisian apartment. Because there was a delay on the set, Darmon had to return to the set, as if nothing had happened. “But I had that in the head,” he says.
It was therefore with “the energy of despair” that he continued his job. “I was so low that I didn’t risk anything anymore.”
-Keyboard abandoned by solidarity
In addition, French media recalled why Christian Clavier refused to play Asterix in the third film in the franchise, Asterix at the Olympic Gamesin 2008.
At the time, keyboard had been replaced by Clovis Cornillac, which had disappointed fans. The site Pupil says that the film’s project Astérix en Hispania had to be done with Gérard Jugnot to realize. The latter wanted to reform the splendid troop for the occasion [avec notamment Thierry Lhermitte et Christian Clavier].
Uderzo was not convinced
But Albert Uderzo, co -creator of Asterix, had not been thrilled by the idea and Gérard Jugnot had decided to abandon. Keyboard had done the same, in solidarity.
Asterix at the Olympic Games Then was born with a distribution which included in particular Depardieu, Cornillac, Alain Delon, Franck Dubosc and Stéphane Rousseau.
Christian Clavier had gone to turn Bronzes 3with his Splendid comrades. We can say that he had the last word since Bronzes 3 made more than 10 million admissions, compared to 6.8 million for Asterix at the Olympic Games.
