Adopt a healthy food from childhood influences the occurrence of the rules (or Menarche), reveals an American study, published the
May 7 in the journal “Human Réploduction”. Clearly, the more a child eats vegetables, whole grains and legumes, the more likely it is to be adjusted late. Conversely, little girls who consume many red and transformed meats, refined cereals and energy drinks are more at risk of earlier menstruation.

The led by Professor Holly Harris, of the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center in Seattle (west coast of the States), analyzed the data of 7,500 girls aged 9 to 14. Their results demonstrate that those that have consumed the most vegetables and other plants in the panel have 8% chance in less to have their first rules during the following month, compared to those who ate the least.

For girls who have eaten the most processed , the risk is even more important: they have a probability of having their first rules the following month, increased by 15%, in comparison with that of girls who consumed the least. These results, specifies the pre Harris in a press release, are independent of the body mass and size index, factors that are considered to be the age of menstruation.

This difference could be explained by the inflammatory state that an unbalanced diet leads to the body, explain the researchers. A state which previous studies have shown that it is linked to many health : cancer, diabetes, osteoarthritis, asthma or even cardiovascular . The fact of being settled earlier than the average (12 and a half years) has also been associated with an increased risk of breast cancer, obesity or diabetes, they recall.
