This is information that risks throwing a little more trouble on the true nature of the departure of Oliver Oakes from Alpine. The Briton suddenly resigned Tuesday, two days after a complicated Miami Grand Prix for his troops (a point marked in sprint thanks to Gasly). OAKES, who has held the main team post since July 2024, has left the team officially for “personal reasons”, which could explain partly by the troubled situation that his brother crosses.

William Oakes was arrested Thursday, May 1 by British police in the Silverstone Park district, according to the daily The Telegraph. He was charged for transferring criminal goods and was arrested with “large sum of money on him”. He appeared before the Northampton Court of First Instance on Saturday May 3 and was placed in pre -trial detention, confirmed a police source at the Telegraph.
According to the British companies’ register, William Oakes, 31, was the director of Hitech GP, the stable founded by his brother Oliver in 2015. He had left the direction to join Alpine in the past season. Hitech’s management had been a source of questions in recent years after massive investments in the Russian oligarch Dmitri Mazepin and the sanctions imposed by the British government following the invasion of Ukraine by Russia in early 2022.
The Hitech team of Oliver Oakes also applied for an entry into Formula 1 in 2026, but his project had not finally obtained the favors of the FIA. Since then, the British structure continues to evolve in promotion formulas, including F2, where Dino Beganovic, protected from Ferrari, and Luke Browning, member of the Williams Academy, place Hitech in 4ᵉ row of the team ranking.
