Oscar Piastri urged his compatriot Jack Doohan to “Keep your head high” after the decision of Alpine to replace him by Franco Colapinto.
This decision comes only six rounds after the start of season F1 2025, Doohan now giving up his place to Argentinian Franco Colapinto, who himself begins a hearing of five races at the Grand Prix d’Émilie-Romagne.
Alpine has scored its only Grand Prix point this year thanks to the seventh place from Gasly to Bahrain, while the French added another with an eighth place in Miami sprint.
Doohan’s downside leaves Piastri, leader of the world championship, the only Australian still on the grid. He sent a message to the 22 -year -old pilot.
“I just saw that the director of the team also left,” Commely plestments.
“I have not yet heard of Jack and his departure, but I obviously heard all the rumors. I think that if it is the end for Jack, it can be very proud, first of all to have reached formula 1. It is not easy, especially coming from Australia. There are a lot of decisions difficult to make and I am disappointed for him.”
“So, if he did his last race, then I think you have to keep your head high, it’s an F1 driver and no one can take it away from you. I’m sure he will have a good career whatever happens.”
In a video published later on social networks, Franco Colapinto sent him a message to his fans.
“I hope you’ve heard the big news already! I’m going to be back on the grid, back in Formula 1 as Alpine pilot.”
“I am extremely enthusiastic. This is an incredible opportunity. Thank you to the whole team for the confidence she has given me.”
“It happens again in Italy! It was Monza last year, now it’s Imola. An ideal circuit to make my debut with the team. And it’s going to be great. I can’t wait to start. Super excited.”
“A big thank you to all the fans, to all Alpine fans, to all those who supported the team and myself when I was not running.”
“I hope you appreciate it, that we will have fun and that we will get very good results. See you soon.”
