Donald Trump announced on Wednesday to appoint a cantor of holistic medicine as a future chief doctor of the United States in place of a star doctor of the conservative chain Fox, in a last minute turnaround.
“Doctor Casey Means will be appointed to the job of chief doctor,” wrote the American president on his social social platform, adding that his initial choice would be granted another function within the Ministry of Health.
This change, which occurs on the eve of the hearing in the Senate which was to approve of its former favorite Janette Nesheiwat in this position, notably raises questions as to the possible intervention of a conspiratorial influencer.
Laura Loomer, figure of the American far right, had already been talked about in early April by obtaining the dismissal of the head of the American intelligence agency, whose head she claimed from the Republican President.
This week, she had publicly opposed the choice of Ms. Nesheiwat, a doctor who acquired a certain notoriety during the Pandemic of COVID-19, as a regular intervener on the prized channel of the Fox News Conservatives.
-“We really need a new candidate for the job of chief,” she wrote on Monday on the social network X, accusing Donald Trump’s first choice for being “pro-Vaccin” and not being “ideologically aligned” with the Republican or “the initiatives of his administration in health”.
Appointed by the president, the chief doctor is responsible for prevention on public health issues, even if his concrete powers are very limited.
Donald Trump’s new choice, Casey Means, is close to Minister Robert Kennedy (RFK) Jr., a controversial personality for his antivaccin positions.
This caregiver, who describes herself as an “former surgeon who has become an evangelist of metabolic health”, founded with her brother Calley Means, recently appointed special advisor to RFK JR, a financial empire based on the promotion of holistic medicine and well-being practices.
Janette Nesheiwat is also married to the former national security advisor to President Mike Waltz, recently dismissed following the case of the military plans shared by Megarde – a decision in which Ms. Loomer would also have played a role according to American media.
