


Born in 1961, Jackson « Butch » Guice started his career with the production of fanzines. It was in the 1980s that he asserted himself as a key player in the comic book industry, with work on X-Men in 1983 or the adaptation in comics of Indiana Jones and the Cursed Temple. He also works on his first regular series, The Micronauts : The New Voyageswhere it stands out for its very dynamic style.

The 1990s are just as fruitful for Guice, who has helped structure Superman’s death alongside Roger Stern in the monthly Action Comics. Out of fifteen numbers and three arcs, the duo told death and then the hero’s resurrection, reviving the craze around Superman at a time when his popularity was declining. He will continue to draw the superhero in the red cape for a pivotal period, during the arc Reign of the Supermen.
But Butch Guice also distinguished himself by his own original characters. He has indeed designed most of the 26 episodes of Rusewith Mark WaidThen Scott Beatty in the scenario. The Victorian style of this series of detective at the Sherlock Holmes made it possible to highlight the meticulousness of the details that Guice gave to the sets and the atmosphere steampunk.
