This Tuesday, via his social networks, the Australian Caleb Ewan (ineos grenadiers) announced his retirement, with immediate effect.
It is a completely unexpected announcement. This Tuesday morning, via a very long message shared on social networks, the Australian sprinter Caleb Ewan, who had started his career, with professionals, in 2014, announced his retirement with immediate effect, while he is however only 30 years old. In his career, the sprinter has a total of 65 victories including eleven on the big towers. Indeed, the Australian won five stages on the Tour of Italy, five on the Tour de France and one on the Tour of Spain. At the start of this 2025 season, Caleb Ewan had joined the ranks of the British cycling team Ineos Grenadiers. His goal was, moreover, to relaunch his career which has become very complicated in the two previous seasons, when he played in the colors of the Belgian team Lotto Dstny, for the fifth and last year, then of the Australian training Jayco Alula.
Ewan has won races this year
From his recovery race, on March 25, the Australian won, on the side of International Week Coppi and Bartali. In April, the sprinter, who won a classic in 2016 (Euroeyes Cyclassics), also won the second stage of the Tour du Pays Basque. Finally, this Tuesday, the Australian finally decided to stop everything. In his message, the runner notably wrote: “After a long reflection, I decided to withdraw from professional cycling with immediate effect. (…) My last two seasons, in particular the second part of 2024, have considerably damaged my relationship with this sport. (…) In eleven years of career I accomplished more than I could never have imagined but what previously meant everything for me is no longer the same importance today. The feeling that I felt by crossing the line first, the one you are looking for during all these years, disappeared faster than in the past. “
