The event series The rebel : lthe adventures of the young George Sand is launched this Monday evening, on France 2. This fiction in period costumes immerses us in the hectic life of Aurore Dupin, this young woman who, from 1830, will become the famous novelist George Sand, feather of romanticism, fervent defender of the republic still fragile, but also a figure of women’s fight for their emancipation.
To embody the heroine, the producers set their sights on Urso nine, an actress of 31 years still little known to the general public. Their intuition seems to have been the right one, however. From the first images of the series, a scene, however raw of rape, Urso nine captivates by its energy and its balance in the skin of this avant-garde rebel. Critics unanimously greet its inhabited performance.
“Nine cohabited all the boxes: energy, fantasy, game intelligence. For me, the number one criterion of this cast was to be able to believe that this woman wrote great novels. Nine is very intelligent, cultivated. This is felt,” said Rodolphe Tissot, the director, in Le Figaro. Spontaneous and smiling, the young actress says she learned a lot from this role: “I aspire to look like George Sand. I would like to be a quarter as rebellious as her!”, She launches, modest, in Ouest-France.
Urso nine: a “girl of” who did not want to be
The one who had barely three months to soak up the work of George Sand (70 novels and 18,000 letters all the same, not to mention the plays and the news), also learned to ride a horse, to play the piano, or to use a feather to embody the prolific novelist of the 19th century. And she manages, according to criticism, to a brilliant interpretation, which makes it one of the revelations of this beginning of the year on the screens.
A deserved success for that which has embarked on a double master in theatrical studies and philosophy at the École normale supérieure, wrote a dissertation, before finally letting go for the national school of theater in Lille and for boards. Nine d’Urso was plunged into the show, the real one, by a friend of the family who will take him twice a week to the theater after a drama: the death of her father when she was 12 years old.
Because Nine is also the daughter of two personalities who have bathed her from a very young age in the artistic world: the top-model Inès of the Fressange and the Italian businessman Luigi d’Urso, disappeared in 2006. If she wants not to become a “daughter of” and has nothing in common according to the producer of the series Georges-Marc Benamou, she holds a lot of her mother, former muse of Karl Lagerfeld and muse of Chanel.
From Inès de la Fressange, who will later be creative, businesswoman and journalist, Nine also undoubtedly inherited from the intellect and a certain assurance of the old French nobility. The Sanhard de la Fressange family, which owned the seigneury of the same name, in Auvergne, from the end of the Middle Ages, will also have seen other big names, political, hero of liberation and even skier (Christiane de la Fressange) pass. Very media alliances will also have enriched the dynasty, such as the union with the large family of Banquier Lazard, during the marriage of Paul, Marquis de la Fressange and Simone Lazard in the 1920s.
Urso nine also, perhaps, won the immense culture of his father Luigi d’Urso, businessman and wealthy Italian art merchant. Inès de la Fressange’s husband, whose legend says he would have launched the fashion of crampons in France, died on March 23, 2006, of heart discomfort at his home at the age of 55. A drama told by Violette, daughter of the couple and little sister of Nine d’Urso, in a work, “even the noise of the night has changed”, published in 2023, in which she will reveal that this adulated father also had a dark side, being in particular dependent on alcohol and drugs.
