The member for Kingsway, British Columbia, Don Davies, was appointed acting chief of the new Democratic Party (NPD) on Monday evening.
“Tonight, the Federal Council of the New Democratic Party of Canada, in consultation with the CAUCUS of the NPD, calls Don Davies to the post of interim chief of the NPD of Canada,” confirmed political party by press release.
Don Davies, one of the three neo-democratic deputies elected in British Columbia, will direct the NPD until the next race for the party leadership, which will be organized “in the coming months”.
-“Although the results of the latest elections were not up to our expectations, our commitment to build a better Canada has never been so strong,” Mary Shortall commented. By reaffirming our objectives, we will continue to request accounts from the government and to fight for the issues discussed by the Canadian population in the field: public health care, affordable housing, good jobs and the obligation for ultra-rich to finally pay their just part.
The ex-head of the NPD, Jagmeet Singh, announced that he was leaving his post after not having been re-elected in his constituency in the last federal elections on April 28.
“His work has changed and will continue to change lives and her inheritance will be transmitted for generations,” said the training.
