Faced with growing enthusiasm for its annual Earth day event, the city of Ile-Perrot has chosen to review its formula in response to the many citizen requests. On May 10, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Michel-Martin park will host a full day of activities combining environmental awareness, distribution of horticultural resources and exchanges with community experts.
Mayor Pierre Séguin praised this development by stressing that visitors will now have more time to benefit from the free distribution of compost, mulch, seeds and young plants, while enjoying direct contact with environmental specialists. This new approach aims to offer a space conducive to the discussion and the discovery of concrete gestures to be made for the planet.
To enrich this edition, the city invited several organizations to animate thematic kiosks. In the morning, the environmental horticulture society of the cities of the Perrot island will address urban agriculture. Later, the bicycle Quebec organization will be present to discuss sustainable mobility and offer a reservation bicycle development service. At the beginning of the afternoon, the prolfora cooperative will speak of biodiversity, with tasting of honey in support. Throughout the day, the city will inform about the management of residual materials and the urban forest, with a distribution of young trees and some draws.
