I beat a myth, a legend like Federica ”it was with these words that the nugget of Italian swimming Sara Curtis commented on her performance which saw her beat the Italian record of the 100 m freestyle, this Tuesday.
The record of the 50m freestyle improved also
At 18, she completed her 100 m in 53”01, 17 hundredths better than the previous Italian record (53”18) established by Pellegrini in June 2016. It is also the best global performance of the year on distance-refinement.
Nicknamed “La Divine”, Pellegrini who put an end to her career in 2022, is considered the best Italian swimmer in history with in particular to her list of an Olympic title (200 m free in 2008) and six global coronations in large basin. It still holds the records of Italy and Europe, 200 m (1’52”98) and 400 m (3’59”15) freestyle.

With this time, Curtis who participated last summer in the Paris Olympic 2024 Olympic Games (semi -finalist of the 50 m free), won his ticket for the 2025 world championships (July 11 – August 3) of Singapore.
