Securing the AOMC line (Aigle-Ollon-Monthey-Champéry) between Collombey-Muraz and Monthey invited himself to the Grand Council on Monday afternoon. Parliament has unanimously entered into an investment subsidy of 22.74 million Frs.

The project consists in removing the current line in the heart of the village of Collombey and replacing it with a layout in clean site along the CFF tracks of the Tonkin line. The crossing of the two lines will be made by the underground setting of the AOMC route in Collombey. The pickaxe will be given on May 22, according to information from the State Councilor in charge of the Department of Mobility, Planning of the Regional and the Environment, Franz Ruppen.

The current station of Monthey-Ville will be abandoned for the benefit of a new station attached to that of SBB. Consequently, a new connection layout at the line of the Illiez Valley will be created with a trunk common to the Plaine line, drawn up to the new Halte de Monthey.

This project is a priority of the government, “as is the restart of the RER Sud-Leman line (Saint-Gingolph-Evian-les-Bains) and put Monthey on the Simplon line,” said State Councilor Franz Ruppen.

Eagle-Monthey at half an hour

The project, partly reshaped in recent years, now reaches 227.38 million francs. The Confederation will pay for 204.64 million francs, the State of Valais, 22.74 million, the commune of Monthey 6.5 million and that of Collombey-Muraz 3.25 million. For the canton, the amounts will be levied from the mobility service budgets, depending on the of the project and the provision of financial resources allocated within the framework of the next budgets.

Ultimately, the idea of project promoters is to be able to create a rate of half an hour between Aigle and Monthey, in order to promote the use of public transport.
