Luckily, a storm shot several old trees nearby, which the couple reused to build the roof. Exposed in each room as an elegant spine, these trunks complete the many wooden elements that punctuate the interior. If most of the furniture seem to spring from the walls, sculpted directly in the cob, some independent pieces come from local marks. There is also an Ikea dining chair, hand -tinted for a unique appearance. Dilyara Mazhitova and Vladimir Radostovets collaborated with the interior decorator Elena Plaskina so that each piece of furniture is “As comfortable as a harmonious visually”notably by covering many pieces of karagach wood, a local variety of elm. “It’s a durable wood, with a magnificent grain”explains the owner. The smooth surfaces of the house have been softened using natural and sober textiles: Belarusian household linen, Turkish cotton, carpets and hanging baskets made by local craftsmen.

In a house where each element is handcrafted, the challenges did not fail. All doors, for example, have been made to measure, each being unique in its shape and size. The choice of wall colors also required time: they were finally thought of to evoke “Sand, desert, cliffs and steppe”. The expertise of the couple in geomaterials was used for the roof, composed of a waterproof membrane in recycled plastic, covered with earth and reinforced by a rear grid. This wavy structure allows the house to blend into the landscape, while promoting the growth of vegetation and limiting erosion. The greenery is also present inside, with a hydroponic wall installed near the kitchen. “The idea was to cultivate aromatic plants and strengthen the circular approach of the house”Précise dilyara mazhitova. “We have designed the water circulation system so that plants can flourish effectively. »»
