The musician presents from Friday a selection of 97 tables made between 2021 and 2022 at the Halcyon Gallery.

However, Bob Dylan is not just singer and poet. He is also a plastic artist. This Friday, May 9, the 83 -year -old musician will highlight one of his biggest passions, painting.
In total, 97 paintings (portraits, scenes, objects) made by him with a “Emotional resonance” Between 2021 and 2022 will be exhibited throughout the month of May in the heart of the Halcyon Gallery, in London. “My idea is not only to observe the human condition, but to immerse it”says Bob Dylan to our British colleagues from Guardian .
To do this, the artist with multiple caps presents works of all kinds: people playing an instrument, couples, athletes … Some drawings also describe places he has attended. The whole thing was thought of in a style rich in color. The musician says he wants to create “Living entities that breathe and have an emotional resonance, colors used as weapons and atmosphere factors, a way to tell stories”.
18 years of collaboration
Among his notable works, there is a mirror reflecting a set of lips, a saxophonist, or a cowboy with a pistol hanging on his belt in front of the rising sun. The musician, who puts the painter’s costume when he wishes “Relax and refocus your agitated spirit” During his tours, said to be inspired by the first blue period of Pablo Picasso. Some of his drawings are entitled, in fact, such as blue, red and neutral monochromatic studies.

According to Kate Brown, Director of Creation at Halcyon Gallery, the drawings of Bob Dylan “Remember memories, at intangible windows on the life of one of the biggest storytellers of all time”.
“This last set of paintings gives the impression of a more intimate connection with the artist than all his previous works and it is a great privilege to share them with the public for the first time”told the Guardian The president and founder of the art gallery, Paul Green. He recalls that the musician began to collaborate with the company from Birmingham over 18 years ago. “It was an extraordinary experience to see this cultural icon becoming a visual artist as important and revered by criticism”he rejoices.

Three years ago, the Halcyon Gallery had exhibited the series Drawn Blank From Bob Dylan to Château La Coste, in Aix-en-Provence. It was then the first exhibition in France of the artist in France. Entitled Drawn Blank in Provenceshe included graphite drawings made during her travels between Europe, Asia and the United States from 1989 to 1992, then reworked in painting.
