It requires a positive and respectful approach to sexuality and sexual relationships, as well as the possibility of having pleasant and safe sexual experiences, without coercion, discrimination and violence. To achieve and maintain good sexual health, the Human Rights and Sexual Rights of all people must be respected, protected and fulfilled. It includes reproductive health, which enables people to be able to have a satisfying and safe sex life, while having the capacity to reproduce and the freedom to decide if, when and how often they will do so ( WHO, 2010).

Regional sexual health coordination committees (Coress)

The creation of Coress, by a decree of July 3, 2024, is part of the National Sexual Health Strategy (SNSS), drawing on the experience of Corevih in the fight against HIV and STIs. , whose scope of intervention is now expanded.

The SNSS particularly targets issues linked to the epidemic of human immunodeficiency virus (HIV), other sexually transmitted infections (STIs) and viral hepatitis, but also disparities in access to care, contraception, education about emotional and sexual life and the development of actions linked to the promotion of sexual health (particularly in schools).

To guarantee an adapted sexual health offer, meeting the needs of all, it is essential to mobilize and coordinate the various actors involved in sexual health. Among them are health and social action professionals, non-profit associations and organizations in the field of sexual health, as well as representatives of decentralized administrations and local authorities in charge of these issues.

Composition and expectations of appointed members

The Committees are made up of 30 to 40 members (as well as substitutes), from these different professions or structures.

Appointed by the Director General of the ARS while ensuring geographical, thematic and institutional affiliation balance, the members of the Coress are distributed among the following colleges:

  • Representatives of health professionals and social action in prevention and health promotion

  • Representatives of institutions and organizations, particularly health, social or medico-social establishments, working in the field of sexual health

  • Representatives of patients and users of the health system (associations approved as user representatives)

  • Personalities qualified in sexual health.

Each member of CORESS is expected to:

-
  • Commitment to the governance of the Committee, in the development and monitoring of its work program, by mobilizing its skills and networks to ensure that it meets the needs of Ile-de- residents and sexual health stakeholders.

  • Support and animation of the work program with the support of the employee team.

  • Participation in three annual meetings in plenary sessions.

  • Participation or animation of more specific commissions or working groups.

Application procedures

In Île-de-France, four Coress operate in dedicated territories covering the entire region, while cooperating to ensure the coherence of actions and complementarity at the regional level (see, Map and attached table).

Applications must be submitted online via the following link, before February 15, 2025

Please attach a CV and/or brief motivation to the address [email protected] as well as the approval of the association if the application is in its name (college 3) or a designation if the application is in the name of an institution representative (college 2).

The composition of the 4 Committees will be published before March 15, 2025 date of official creation of Coress. All those who applied will be informed.

The limited number of seats to be filled, and the need to ensure balanced representation of fields of action, territories and functions, means that applications cannot be accepted. The people concerned will be regularly informed of Coress activities, and the mobilization of their expertise will be sought (working groups, training, events, etc.).
