The Maison de la Citoyenneté de Saint-Girons is hosting, from January 7 to 25, a captivating exhibition entitled Les Sentiers du Silence. This photographic series is by Philippe Sériot, a passionate Pyrenean author and photographer, who, through his lens, invites you to explore the raw majesty of the Pyrenean massifs.
Originally from Ariège, Philippe Sériot grew up with the mountains as a backdrop, from the Tabes massif to Mont Valier. Self-taught, he immersed himself in photography to capture and share the emotions that inhabit him during his explorations in the high mountains. It is these moments, between fatigue, cold, doubt, but also wonder, that he transcribes in images marked by complex atmospheres and striking contrasts.
A long artistic career has allowed the photographer to refine his style, favoring black and white, a technique that he particularly likes to translate the harshness and poetry of natural elements. His photos, taken between 2021 and 2023 during high-altitude hikes, mountaineering sessions and treks, reveal the solitude and silence that only a hiker can experience when faced with the fragile grandeur of nature.
An ode to the Pyrenean mountains
Philippe Sériot’s compositions translate tormented and silent atmospheres, where mist, snow and wind mingle to create a visual symphony imbued with respect and humility. They reflect the work of an artist deeply attached to the raw and fragile beauty of our Pyrenean mountains.
An opening of the exhibition will take place this Friday, January 10 at 5:30 p.m. This special moment will allow you to interact with the artist and discover his inspirations. Philippe Sériot will also be present on Saturday January 11 from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. to meet the public and share his experience.
